The Santa Ana River Trail - Section 3
Yorba Regional Park
The next spot on the bike trail is Yorba Regional Park. The headwinds in the afternoon can be challenging in this section of the trail. The park is on the west side of the trail. There is a dirt track that runs along the side of the trail. It is good for jogging, walking, horse riding and mountain bikes.
The park has plenty of cool shade, grass and restrooms. It's a very nice park with a large pond, bar-b-que pits and gazebos.

Here is a rest stop along the trail to take a break.
Right next to the trail is this restroom facility. There is alot of shade and a drinking fountain. This building is very close to the softball fields.
Here is a picture of one of the large softball fields. There are 2 fields here. There are restrooms and water fountains available near the parking lot.
There is another big parking lot by the softball fields. It is a good place to park your car and jump onto the trail. The beach is about 22 miles from this spot.

After riding south from the park, we approach a wooden bridge at Imperial Highway. This is one of three along the route.
Looking back at the trail near the bridge. This spot is close to La Palma and the Imperial Highway. There is a Keno's Restaurant at this spot with a large parking lot.
There is a rest area here, near the bridge right off of the Imperial Highway entrance to the trail. The Anaheim Hills Bike Shop is very close to this location, as is In-N-Out Burgers, a Shell gas station and many more places to eat.

Imperial Highway to Lincoln Avenue
The river is now on the west side of the trail. There is another rest stop here with a portable restroom, a bench and a picnic table. This is the Imperial Woods Trail section, as far as Lakeview. There is a nursery on the east side of the trail. The trail curves and becomes slightly scenic.

The trail begins to skirt homes as we approach Lakeview. I spotted and American Bald Eagle in this area once. It was an awesome experience to see such a majectic bird up close as it swept the river and then perched on one of the big Eucaplyptus trees. The mist of the water doused me as I rode under the tree and the bird shook off the water.
This is the river at Riverdale Park.
Riverdale Park at Lakeview Avenue. It is next to the Kaiser Permanente Hospital. It has shade, grass, a bench and a water fountain. There are also restrooms available in the park. To the west, on Lakeview and La Palma, there is a Tom's Place restaurant for those who are in need of food while on the trail.
We pass by a large electrical tower as we get closer to the 91 Freeway and Tustin Avenue.
Here the trail will pass under the 91 Freeway.
The trail will then immediately pass under Tustin Avenue. There is a Circle K convenience store here at Tustin Avenue in case you need any items for the ride. There is also a Chevron gas station with a Subway Sandwich shop in it.

There is a railroad underpass at Orange-Olive as we look back at it after passing under it.
Also at Orange-Olive, there is a nice rest area with benches, tables and water. About 17 miles to the beach.
South of Glassell Street is another portable restroom and the trail gets greener.
Looking north on the trail, a short distance away from Glassell. There is a dirt path for jogging or walking next to the paved bike trail.
Here is another picnic table as we get closer to Lincoln Avenue.
